How to use your tooth brushing check up chart:
  1. Draw a calendar. Write the name of the month. Put a number in each day of this calendar [or use an existing calendar]
  2. Find a tooth-checking buddy at home: maybe Mom or Dad, a sister or brother, a grandparent, a babysitter, or even yourself.
  3. Ask your buddy to put a smiling face in the correct box each time you have done a good job brushing.
NEWS FOR PARENTS
Did you know...that cavities usually start inside the tooth? Here's how. Mouth acids (made from bacteria and sugar) can seep inside and gradually dissolve enamel below the surface. Normally, minerals from your saliva begin to rebuild the weakened area produced by acid attacks. There is a constant battle inside the tooth between acids dissolving the enamel and minerals rebuilding it. If enamel is dissolved faster than it is rebuilt, a visible cavity will eventually result.

When you brush regularly with an effective fluoride toothpaste, the fluoride can speed up the rebuilding process and may help prevent a cavity. Further, the rebuilt area will be stronger and more resistant to future acid attacks.
